Comparison between piezoelectric buzzer and electromagnetic

  summary

There are mainly two types of buzzer: piezoelectric buzzer and electromagnetic buzzer. If you want to create a circuit with a buzzer, you need to understand the difference between the two categories. You should know how they work, so as to finally confirm which type of buzzer to use.

  What is a piezoelectric buzzer?

Piezoelectric buzzer is an electronic device used to produce tones. As the name suggests, the core of piezoelectric buzzer is piezoelectric buzzer. Piezoelectric buzzer is made of piezoelectric ceramic and metal substrate, and they are bonded together by adhesive. Generally speaking, the sound production of piezoelectric buzzer is such a process: applying AC voltage to piezoelectric ceramics to make it show reverse piezoelectric effect, produce high-frequency back and forth vibration and drive the metal substrate to vibrate, make the resonant cavity produce resonance, so as to produce a specific frequency sound.

Piezoelectric buzzer generally has the following characteristics:

  1. Working voltage ~ 3 to ~ 250 v.

  2. The rated current is less than 30 ma.

  3. The resonant frequency is 1000Hz to 6000Hz, and the most commonly used frequency range is 2000Hz to 4000Hz

  4. There is no magnetic field when working

  What is an electromagnetic buzzer?

Electromagnetic buzzer is more traditional in pronunciation. It works by electromagnetic principle. When voltage is applied, the coil generates magnetic field, and then the diaphragm vibrates and makes sound. This kind of buzzer has low working voltage of 1.5-12v and high current consumption, usually more than 30mA or even higher.

The magnetic buzzer has the following core characteristics:

  1. The working voltage is ~ 1.5 to ~ 30 v.

  3. The rated current is about 50 to 100 mA.

  3. The resonance frequency is 1000Hz to 3000hz

  4. Generate magnetic field when working
